Mikkel Haarup top F&H Kawasaki rider at Oss

Mikkel Haarup was the top-scoring rider of the F&H Kawasaki MX2 Racing Team in the Dutch round of the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship at Oss to claim eighth overall.

The young Dane put in a solid ride from eleventh on lap one to advance to sixth after twenty minutes of the first race but a fall as he launched a move for fifth cost him several places and he had to be satisfied with ninth at the finish. Sixteenth on the opening lap of race two he again moved forward strongly to take over ninth place five laps from the end and secure eighth on the day. The twenty-five point haul moves him to thirteenth in the series points standings.

Mikkel Haarup: “My speed was good in Qualifying with purple sectors but I just didn’t put them together on the same lap. I still got a decent start in the first moto and did my work to move up to sixth; I tried to make a pass for fifth and went down but I worked again for eighth. I pushed all through the second moto and passed for ninth at the end so I showed my fitness in the heat. I thought the track was good. “

Bike It MTX Kawasaki’s Wilson Todd continues to make progress each week and raced to the best result of his GP career with ninth overall from sixth in race one and twelfth in the second moto. He used his ninth place in Qualifying to good effect to gate sixth in the first moto and retain his first top six ranking to the finish. Gating ninth in race two he was frustrated for several laps by the slower rider ahead of him and eventually made a mistake to be relegated to fifteenth. Undeterred by the setback he battled back to twelfth by the finish for ninth on the day. He is now twelfth in the series standings, just twenty-one points shy of the top ten.

Wilson Todd: “The day wasn’t too bad with my first top six. I got two decent starts and just rode my own race in the first moto. The second race I got stuck behind a guy who was off the pace; I went down trying to pass him and lost six places but I got back to twelfth in the end. I’m not quite in shape to go the full distance yet but it was fun today and I look forward to moving further forward each week. “

Roan van de Moosdijk was full of expectation for his home GP and confirmed his speed with second fastest time in Qualifying. He didn’t get the best drive off the metal start-gate but rode a clever first two corners to emerge seventh and immediately started a series of exhilarating passes to advance to second before half-distance. With the race-long leader already eight seconds ahead he settled into a comfortable rhythm but was caught out by a surprise attack from the chasing rider to finish third. He was eliminated on the opening lap of race two but remains fifth in the series points standings, just twenty-two points behind the series leader.

Roan van de Moosdijk: “A home GP is always a bit special and it’s great to have the crowd back, so I wanted to give them something. I’ve been consistent so far this year but I wanted to be on the box this weekend, I think I’m good on all surfaces but I was looking forward to the sand. “

Mathys Boisrame experienced a frustrating day. The Frenchman was involved in a tangle with several other riders at the tricky second turn in race one and found himself twenty-second at the end of the opening lap; despite not finding his usual ebullient speed he advanced to twelfth at the finish. He quickly moved forward to seventh in race two but did not find his usual rhythm and was pushed back to eleventh at the finish. He remains fourth in the series standings, just seventeen points from the points leader.

Mathys Boisrame: “I crashed with Maxime (Renaux) and Mattia (Guadagnini) in the second corner at the start of the first race; it was not easy after that. I had no energy already this morning and it was no fun to ride; it was a disappointing weekend for me. That’s how it is; some weekends simply don’t go as you expect, but we learn each time and this week we’ll work again to prepare for the next GP at Loket."
