Henry Jacobi misses podium by one point

Henry Jacobi of F&H Racing Kawasaki remains third in the FIM World MX2 Motocross Championship after missing the podium by a single point in the fourth round at Pietramurata in northern Italy.

As in qualifying Jacobi had little luck at the first start to emerge fifteenth from the tricky opening turns of the Italian switchback, but the German immediately started his charge up the leaderboard. Within six laps he had advanced into the top six and continued to make a series of exhilarating passes to eventually come home fourth. A superb start in race two saw the twenty-two year old hold a comfortable third place for eight laps until a single error saw him slip off and surrender three places; the hard-charging German soon regrouped however to regain fifth five laps from the end. His combined total of thirty-five points saw Henry miss the podium by just a single point but he strengthened his hold on a top three series ranking, increasing his advantage over fourth to eighteen points.

Henry Jacobi: “We had a tough start to the weekend on Saturday but we turned things around on Sunday with two top five finishes. I’m happy with these results but of course I'm a little frustrated to miss another podium by one single point! Even with a bad start in the first race and a crash in the second I scored a fourth and a fifth position; now I'm looking  forward to taking a short rest as I have been a little sick this week.”

F&H teammate Adam Sterry recorded his best result of the season to date. The Welshman gated top eight in each race and rode solidly to finish eighth in each moto for eighth overall. The twenty-six-point championship score also saw him confirm his ninth-placed series ranking.

Adam Sterry: “I struggled to start with on this track but we changed a few things on the bike for Sunday and my starts were good in both motos; I feel I was still missing a little race speed but two times top eight is something to move forward from.”

Brian Moreau was another not to get a clean ride through the tricky opening turns in race one but the French teenager showed good speed to advance from thirty-first to twenty-first before he bogged in a sticky turn and had to do the hard work again to salvage two points for nineteenth. A superb start in race two saw Brian hold an impressive fourth place until a heavy crash forced his retirement.

BUD Racing colleague Mitchell Harrison, so impressive with fifth in qualifying, found himself trapped against the earth bank through the tight opening turns in race one to emerge almost last; a solid ride saw him finish twenty-second after a slip the first time he got close to the points-scoring placings. The series newcomer opened his championship scoreline with seventeenth after another difficult start in race two.

Darian Sanayei again shot out of the gate on his Bike It DRT Kawasaki in race one to hold second place until the recent lack of race time saw him drop out of the points; the American was eliminated at the start of race two when he fell and was run over by several rivals.

Darian Sanayei: "It's coming a little better with the virus, but it's taking a long time. I've just been riding on talent, going from race to race with no training during the week, but we now have five weeks to the next GP so I'm optimistic I can get back to my regular schedule for the rest of the series."

There was further success for the F&H Racing Team in the FIM European EMX250 Championship round where Dutch youngster Roan van de Moosdijk finished sixth and eighth against the local hardpack experts to head to the next round of the series next month in France fourth in the standings.
